Baccarat, blackjack, and roulette evince images of James Bond and other worldly figures. Not only do table games have character and charm, but they can also offer some of the lowest house edges in casinos. The most popular table games are blackjack, baccarat, and roulette, but in casinos, you will also often find blackjack variants such as Spanish 21 or blackjack switch, as well as other games like let it ride, Caribbean stud, and three card poker.

Blackjack Online

Blackjack is the most popular card game in the world. On its surface there is a superficially convincing veneer of simplicity. You want to get as close as possible to twenty one without going over. That is it. But underneath this facile countenance lies complexities upon complexities. Blackjack is also the game of choice for professional gamblers, who use every trick in the book to get an edge, such as card counting, hole carding, ace sequencing, and more.

Blackjack begins by two cards being dealt to the player and the dealer. Typically both cards to the player are dealt face up (in single or double deck they are usually dealt face down and held by the player) but only one of the dealer’s cards is exposed. The player must then choose between a number of options. They can hit, to take another card, or stand if they think they have enough to win. If you have a pair you can split, and if you have a weak hand you may be able to surrender. Alternatively you can double down, doubling your bet and receiving exactly one more card. If you get a ten card and an ace as your first two cards this is called a blackjack and you get paid 3:2

Blackjack can be played with many different rules. The dealer can hit or stay on soft seventeen, surrender may be allowed or forbidden, and the player may be allowed or prohibited from doubling after they split. These rules change the odds of the game also impact on basic strategy.

Basic strategy is a rubric which dictates the expectation maximizing decision given any two initial player cards and a dealer upcard. So basic strategy will tell you to double with 9 v 3 and split 88 or AA vs anything. By using the right basic strategy for your ruleset you can increase your chances of winning and lower the house edge. Roulette online

In roulette a croupier spins a giant wheel and you are supposed to try to predict where the ball will land. A roulette wheel typically has thirty-seven or thirty-eight squares. These squares are the numbers, 1 to 36, as well as 0 and 00. European roulette only has a single zero and offers significantly better odds to players than American roulette which has both zeros. In roulette you bet odds or evens and red or black and these bets pay even money. You can also bet 1-12, 13-24, and 25-36 and these bets pay 2:1. If you want you can bet on a number straight up, which pays 35:1, but is not easy to hit. You can also make a street bet, which is three consecutive numbers in a line, or a split bet on two adjacent numbers. For European roulette the house edge is 2.70%, and American roulette has a house edge of 5.26%. In French roulette you only lose half your bet if the zero comes up when you are doing an even money bet like red/back or even/odd so the house edge there is only 1.35%. What is Baccarat?

Baccarat is a very popular table game especially among people of Oriental descent. This is a very straightforward game where you pick either player or banker and try to predict which side will get close to nine without going over. If a hand does go over nine then it starts back at zero, that is to say that a total of twelve would be treated like two. Initially both the player and banker are dealt two cards. If either side has a natural, that is a two card total of eight or nine, then there are no more cards drawn and whichever side has the higher total wins. If both totals are equal then it is a tie, the player and banker bets push but if you were smart enough to bet on tie you get paid 8:1.

If neither side has a natural eight or nine, then it is now up to the player to draw. If the player has five or less they draw a card, but with six or seven they stay. The banker then goes next. Whether the banker draws or not depends on both the banker’s hand and the card that the player drew.
